Storyteller

Writing, speaking and listening activities for KS1, based around traditional tales

Storyteller is an exciting new series which uses thirty-six familiar stories as a comfortable foundation to support the writing, speaking and listening objectives of the NLS in Reception, Y1 and Y2. This approach also fulfils the NLS requirement that children are taught a range of traditional stories, including fairy tales.
With Storyteller children will…

* Hear and learn about traditional stories
* Develop comprehension skills
* Begin to be independent writers in a positive and creative learning environment
* Develop speaking and listening skills
* Use drama to explore themes and characters
* Increase their experience of the language and structure of stories

Developed by Mary Lawton Meadway and Rose-Mary Carr, Storyteller has been trialled successfully in infant schools with great success.

Each book has its own focus:
Reception stories with rhyme and repetitive phrases, eg The Gingerbread Man
Year 1 Traditional fairy tales
Year 2 Stories from other lands

Each book contains twelve stories, and each story is supported by four copymasters, plus two pages of teaching suggestions and cross-curricular ideas.
