Motivating, age-appropriate guided reading sessions based on book-banded non-fiction texts, for children in years 1 and 2.
Non-fiction books and activities
The non-fiction books that have been selected introduce features such as contents, captions, questions, labels and lists. All titles will appeal to five and six year olds, and also tie in with common topic areas across the curriculum. All the supported texts have been colour banded to fit in with other sets of guided reading materials in your school.
The guided reading sessions and copymasters are designed for children still in the first stages of learning to read, to help them use a balanced, strategic approach to working through unfamiliar text.
